LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy
I strive to provide gender-affirming and LGBTQ+ affirming care to my clients. I feel a reverence for my LGBTQ+ clients and deeply value my work with queer individuals and relationships. In my work, I rely on my own experience as a queer person and also seek consultation, community support, continuing education, and training to ensure that I’m providing the best therapeutic experience to my clients of all identities. I know my privilege as a white person and work to ensure the felt safety and well-being of my QTBIPOC clients. I know that we are all unique with our own varying expressions and identities and bodies, and I don’t assume to know the experience of my clients. I will not put you in a box or slap on labels that don’t fit. You get to define yourself, and I’m here to uplift and affirm exactly who you are and exactly who you are meant to be.
I know that not all of the issues that bring you to therapy are related to your queerness, and I also recognize the nuances of experiences that you might be facing. You may feel the pressure to fit in and conform to certain familial and societal standards. You might feel misunderstood and isolated, or disconnected from yourself and your community. You might feel confused and curious about who you are and where you belong.
Some of the issues that I help clients with are related to work, sex life, body image, building supportive relationships and community, overcoming trauma, and connecting to yourself and your people. I’ll be here to connect with you and anyone else in your care team if necessary (doctors, psychiatrists, schools, etc.). I provide referrals and resources to my clients as well as letter writing and advocacy when needed. I’ll be here to validate and affirm your reality and lived experience every step of the way.
